ESG Analyst
Main responsibilities
The ESG Analysis team is in charge of developing ESG research on sector, theme and single companies, in defining the Company sustainability risk assessment methodology, managing the ESG scores and ratings, and leading the definition and implementation of the ESG solutions.
The role involves the following activities:
- Writing ESG sectorial and thematic reports, performing high quality company’s and controversies analysis, developing quantitative models and frameworks for the ESG integration in the Investment process Perform ongoing monitoring on ESG risks, global ESG trends, regulatory developments, and industry initiatives.
- Present ESG topics and research insights to clients, showing thought leadership and critical thinking.
- Support Portfolio Managers to make investment decisions based on both investment and ESG knowledge. Help developing ESG strategies tailored to portfolios’ sustainability objectives.
- Contributing to ESG engagement discussions on ESG issues and impact investing themes.
- Support ESG analysts in monitoring the ESG performance and risk profile of existing investments and portfolios, including direct interaction with Portfolio Managers and Research.
- In addition to the above tasks, the candidate will collaborate with the ESG Data team in improving management techniques for ESG data collection to ensure adequacy, accuracy and legitimacy.
- Collaborate with the ESG Governance team to maintain internal research documentation and project files.
Candidate profile
- Master's degree in Engineering, Finance, Economics, Business or related fields in the Sustainability space. CFA Institute diploma (3 years) desirable.
- An experience of 4-6 years in similar roles, gained in Top Consulting firms or Asset Management.
- 2-4 years of quantitative experience within an Asset Management, Investment Bank or Brokerage, preferably with experience in ESG investing.
- Fluent in English; the knowledge of a second foreign language (Italian and/or French) will be considered a plus.
- Knowledge of ESG ratings, net-zero, and international ESG and climate initiatives.
- Experience with ESG reporting frameworks (TCFD, CDP, PRI).
- Analytical, IT and quantitative skills, ideally including programming language (Python, R, Matlab, Java, SQL, PowerBI) and advanced MS Office (Word/PowerPoint/Excel) skills.
- Experience with Bloomberg, FactSet, and ESG data vendors (MSCI, Sustainalytics, ISS, etc.).
- International background is a plus.
- Interest or knowledge in climate change topics, including carbon footprinting, climate impact, climate stress testing.
- Good team player, curious, flexible and responsive.
- Comfortable with working under pressure and with tight deadlines.
